What are Network Servers?

These are memory banks which are accessible by many devices such as computers. A DIY way to make your own server would be to take an old computer, with a sufficient amount of memory, plug it to your router and follow the following steps.

  1. Go to start.
  2. Go to settings.
  3. Go to the control panel.
  4. Enter Network Setup wizard.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the second choice.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Fill the computer description prompted and click Next.
  10. Specify workgroup name as MSHOME, or otherwise if some other name is used as your workgroup name and then click Next.
  11. Turn on file and printer sharing.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Click Next.
  14. After wizard finishes, select just finish the wizard.
  15. Click Finish
  16. Repeat above procedure to connect any other computer to your home network.

As you can see, creating a server is as simple as using a set-aside computer with some simple configuration changes.
